Top Ten Tuesday: Book Settings I Would Visit

Hi and welcome to the reading world!

Today’s post is another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is about book settings we would want to visit!

Let’s get into the list.

Naboo, Star Wars: Queen’s Shadow by E. K. Johnston

Written by the #1 New York Times best-selling author of Ahsoka! When Padmé Naberrie, "Queen Amidala" of Naboo, steps down from her position, she is asked by the newly-elected queen to become Naboo's representative in the Galactic Senate. Padmé is unsure about taking on the new role, but cannot turn down the request to serve her people. Together with her most loyal handmaidens, Padmé must figure out how to navigate the treacherous waters of politics and forge a new identity beyond the queen's shadow.

Naboo has been my favorite Star Wars planet since I first saw The Phantom Menace, but the lake country in episode 2 is my all time favorite movie setting period. Since these areas are referenced in E. K. Johnston’s novels, I’m excited I can feature them on this list!

Another book series adapted from some of my favorite films, the Avatar series has elemental bending and incredible settings! This would be a fun place to explore.

Now that high school is over, Ari is dying to move to the big city with his ultra-hip band—if he can just persuade his dad to let him quit his job at their struggling family bakery. Though he loved working there as a kid, Ari cannot fathom a life wasting away over rising dough and hot ovens. But while interviewing candidates for his replacement, Ari meets Hector, an easygoing guy who loves baking as much as Ari wants to escape it. As they become closer over batches of bread, love is ready to bloom . . . that is, if Ari doesn’t ruin everything.

Writer Kevin Panetta and artist Savanna Ganucheau concoct a delicious recipe of intricately illustrated baking scenes and blushing young love, in which the choices we make can have terrible consequences, but the people who love us can help us grow.

The food at this family bakery is supposed to be absolutely incredible!

Watson’s Restaurant, Chef’s Kiss

"A perfect mix of romance and self-discovery." — Publishers Weekly

Watch things start to really heat up in the kitchen in this sweet, queer, new adult graphic novel!

Now that college is over, English graduate Ben Cook is on the job hunt looking for something…anything…related to his passion for reading and writing. But interview after interview, hiring committee after hiring committee, Ben soon learns getting the dream job won’t be as easy as he thought. Proofreading? Journalism? Copywriting? Not enough experience. It turns out he doesn’t even have enough experience to be a garbage collector! But when Ben stumbles upon a “Now Hiring—No Experience Necessary” sign outside a restaurant, he jumps at the chance to land his first job. Plus, he can keep looking for a writing job in the meantime. He’s actually not so bad in the kitchen, but he will have to pass a series of cooking tests to prove he’s got the culinary skills to stay on full-time. But it’s only temporary…right?

When Ben begins developing a crush on Liam, one of the other super dreamy chefs at the restaurant, and when he starts ditching his old college friends and his old writing job plans, his career path starts to become much less clear.

Chef’s Kiss is adorable, and Watson the pig seems like an adorable creature to say hello to before getting some incredible food.

What are some bookish settings you’d like to visit? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by!

Rae
