Hi and welcome to the reading world!
Today I’m going to be sharing a review for one of my favorite reads in the first quarter of 2022, The Secret Lives of Church Ladies.
Secret Lives of Church Ladies by Deesha Philyaw
Published by Pushkin Press on May 1, 2022
Pages: 224
The Secret Lives of Church Ladies is a short story collection. It features some stories with LGBTQIA+ representation, explores themes of family and identity, and each story brings something different to the table. The characters in each story are memorable and distinct.
This short story collection was incredible and a one sitting read for me. There was sapphic representation in some stories, exploration of identity, family, religion, and morality and the complexities of issues in reality. The stories also discussed and portrayed bonds with loved ones in different perspectives.
What are some short story collections you’ve read and enjoyed? Feel free to let me know in the comments.
Thanks for stopping by!
