Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Wanted to Read in One Sitting

Hi and welcome to the reading world!

Today’s post is another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! This week’s theme is all about books that I couldn’t put down while reading, and I’m excited to share my list!

All Systems Red by Martha Wells

This story is a novella, so it’s definitely a fast read in terms of story length, but I read this one in one sitting because of more than that. This story has an incredibly fast paced and mysterious plot, and definitely led to me reading the subsequent novellas quickly. I’ve got a review of All Systems Red as well as Mini Reviews of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th novellas!

Kindred by Octavia Butler

This book is a sci fi classic and one of my 5 Star Reads of 2021 and one of my Mid Year Favorites and with good reason. Dana’s story is heartwrenching and one that I couldn’t stop reading.

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

Black Sun was my Favorite Read of 2020. This is the first book in a new series, and one that is incredibly compelling. I loved seeing all the perspectives and the countdown elements of this story because it kept me turning pages wanting to know what came next. For more of my thoughts on this one, check out my review.

Passing by Nella Larsen

Passing is a shorter novel and one that kept me guessing what could possibly happen next. This one has also got some plot twists I never saw coming, and definitely one that’s on my list to reread.

Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson

This is one that I read via audiobook, and the audiobook made this story even more engrossing. The story is on the shorter side but also conveys so many themes and emotions throughout.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

This is the sequel to The Kiss Quotient, but The Bride Test is honestly my favorite of the two and the one I just couldn’t put down. Both character perspectives in this story have so much growth and development throughout the course that I really was cheering for both of them to get a happy ending after everything they’d been through. For more of my thoughts, check out my review.

The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson

The Space Between Worlds is another favorite read. This debut combines parallel worlds, a thrilling mystery, and an excellent protagonist into a story that kept me wanting to know what was going on in the complexities of Cara’s worlds. You can see more of my thoughts in my review.

Well Met by Jen DeLuca

Well Met is a summertime themed romance that takes place at a Renaissance Faire. This was one of my first hate-to-love reads and I definitely enjoyed the banter between the two leads.

Pretty Little Wife by Darby Kane

Pretty Little Wife is a mystery/thriller that follows multiple perspectives, from the legal investigators to the aloof and mysterious wife of a missing man who wasn’t who he appeared to be. This was definitely one that had lots of twists and turns throughout. I also have a review for this one!

Heartstopper by Alice Osman

So technically I’m using this last place for the entire Heartstopper series, but these graphic novels are so cute and always some of my favorite reads to pick up and finish in one sitting!

There are my top 10 one sitting reads! What are some books you couldn’t put down?

Thank you for stopping by!

-Rae
