Top Ten Tuesday: Summer TBR

Hi and welcome to the reading world!

For today’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, the theme is to share your Summer TBRs! I typically don’t set TBRs for myself as I’m definitely a mood reader, but I have definitely been excited to share more books for summer reading! If you want even more of my recommendations and TBR for summer (there are 2 books that overlap from that list but otherwise it has some I’ve read and loved and some May releases!) check out My Summer Reading List 2021.

How I’ve been organizing my seasonal TBRs (here’s my Spring TBR and my Winter TBR if you’re curious about just how bad I am about finishing TBRs) is by sharing 5 backlist books (which I’m defining as books already published as of this post going live) and 5 upcoming releases!

Without further ado, let’s get into the list!

Jade City by Fonda Lee: I want to read this one now since the final book in the trilogy releases this fall and my book club (and pretty much everyone who’s read this book) loves it!

Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey: This is another one where the last book comes out this year, but this series is quite expansive (I am sorry in advance for how lame that pun was…) and so I’ve got about 8 books to read before that, but for now I’ll start with the first one!

Lightseekers by Femi Kayode: I am so excited to read this mystery/thriller after reading a few pages and being super intrigued!

Firebreak by Nicole Kornher-Stace: This is a tech thriller (which is somehow a new-to-me subgenre that I’m super excited about!) and I’ve heard amazing things.

Circe by Madeline Miller: I’ve heard great things about Circe, but I didn’t get into it after I read the first chapter awhile back. I want to change that this summer and read this one to see what all the hype is about!

Afterparties by Anthony Veasna So: I’ve been getting more into short story collections this year, and I am so excited to read this one. It’s also an upcoming pick for Roxane Gay’s book club, so I’m hopeful to be able to read it and join in that discussion as well!

Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia: I read and loved Gods of Jade and Shadow recently, and I am so excited to read more from this author, and this one is definitely going to be a read I pick up as soon as possible.

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang: I’ve read and loved both of the previous two books in The Kiss Quotient series and I am so thrilled to finally be getting Quan’s story in this novel!

The Women of Troy by Pat Barker: In addition to reading Circe, I’m curious to pick up more Greek mythology retellings this year and this one sounds especially interesting!

Edge Case by Y.Z. Chin: Literary fiction is a genre that I really love to read anytime of the year, so I definitely wanted to feature at least one upcoming release pick as well. This one sounds so incredibly moving and I’m excited to read it!

So, there is my summer TBR! Will I read all of these books? Definitely not, knowing my mood reader ways. But, you can keep up with what I’m reading through Goodreads or my Bookstagram!
