Hi and welcome to the reading world!
Recently, Fiction Matters had a newsletter that featured some links to summer reading lists, and I had so much fun checking out the recommendations and decided to share some of my own! Today, I’ll be sharing 5 books I’ve read and recommend to pick up this summer as well as 5 upcoming 2021 releases I want to check out!
I’m definitely intrigued by the idea of doing these seasonally or for special occasions so let me know if there are any specific themed reading lists you’d like to see on the blog!
Let’s get into the reading list!
5 Books I’ve Read and Recommend for Summer:

Well Met by Jen DeLuca
Recommended for: a reader looking for a fun and lighthearted romance that takes place in the summertime and involves Renaissance Faire sprinkled in with a small town full of fun and memorable characters

City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty
Recommended for: a fantasy reader looking for an engaging trilogy that’s already all published and ready to be marathon read

All Systems Red by Martha Wells
Recommended for: a reader who is interested in SFF (even those new to the genre!) interested in picking up a short and fast paced novella with a funny and unique narrator

You by Caroline Kepnes
Recommended for: a reader looking for a fast paced thriller read that has a popular Netflix adaptation also available

The Lesson by Cadwell Turnbull
Recommended for: a reader who wants a read that spans genres with sci fi elements and thriller twists that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat
2021 Summer Releases I’m Excited to Read:

The Guncle by Steven Rowley (May 25, 2021)
Why I’m Excited: this sounds like an amazing story that features family, love, and the ties that bring us together

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (June 1, 2021)
Why I’m Excited: time traveling LGBTQ romance that I’ve heard rave reviews about

The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri (June 10, 2021)
Why I’m Excited: a fantasy series that has been getting a lot of buzz with a unique premise and elements of political fantasy

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang (August 31, 2021)
Why I’m Excited: I loved the previous two books in this series (I have a review for The Bride Test) and I am so excited to be getting Quan’s story

Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (August 17, 2021)
Why I’m Excited: I’m currently reading Gods of Jade and Shadow and really enjoying it, and the premise of this one sounds so intriguing
So, there’s my summer reading list! I would love to potentially expand on these lists and make them longer in the future! I would love to hear your thoughts on these books in the comments- are there any of these that you’ve read?
Thanks for stopping by!
